Longitudinal Modes of a Boeing 747

In the latest assignment of my Flight Dynamics and Controls II course, I was asked to use the longitudinal derivatives from the last homework to calculate and approximate the Phugoid and short period modes of a Boeing 747. The problem statement reads, “Substituting the numerical values of stability derivatives obtained for the B747 in assignment 1, calculate the Phugoid and short period modes of the B747 in the flight condition of assignment 1.”

Resultant text file that shows the longitudinal modes of a Boeing 747.

Just like the last assignment, I used equations and knowledge from Robert C. Nelson’s Flight Stability and Automatic Control: Second Edition, to help me with the assignment. These values help show how an aircraft reacts when disturbed in flight.

Here is the MATLAB program I wrote for the assignment.
